He arrived in Nova Scotia in 1878. He apparently worked in gold mines in Nova Scotia and copper mines in Newfoundland. He is not on the 1881 Nova Scotia census. When he left in 1882, he went to Winnipeg and perhaps to Colorado.

    He arrived in Markland with the Erlendsson family and worked on farms in the Musquodoboit valley. He is not on the 1881 census for Nova Scotia. After some years, he moved to Minnesota.

    He settled in Kinmount, Ontario. In May 1875, he was in Nova Scotia. He was among the first to leave Markland and is not on the 1881 census. In March 1881, he was in Manitoba and set out as a delegate to look for land in the Argyle district of the province.
